Acid Clouds: Mapping Data Centre Topologies
How can we rethink the ownership and control of data? And in what ways do data centres influence our identities and societal norms? How can we critically engage with the hidden yet pervasive infrastructures that shape our world?
You are warmly invited for the book launch Acid Clouds: Mapping Data Centre Topologies on Thursday 10 October at Spui 25 in Amsterdam in which five speakers discuss these questions and potential answers with the public.
‘Acid Clouds’ is a research project by Niels Schrader, head of programme at the KABK master Non Linear Narrative, that was originally developed during 2018 research group of the Lectorate Design and features photos and essays on pressing issues related to data centres. The publication raises urgent ethical and political questions in the field of digital rights, the ownership and administration of big data, the power of large tech companies, public access to information, privacy issues and the vulnerability of data versus their indelibility.
