*Collective Sound Walk* The lens of walking as a sensorial method of research and reflection

Fr 22 Nov 2024 17:10 – 17:40, Walk - From KABK (Gallery 1) to KC (Club 4)

Embarking on a short walk from Gallery 1 of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) to Club 4 of the Royal Conservatory (KC) in The Hague between 17:15 - 17:45, we will briefly explore a line through the city using the lens of walking as a sensorial method of research and reflection.

As we move in (relative) silence, each individual experiences our parcours in a personal manner, but also as part of the group. The sounds and gestures of the city—its rhythms, intrusions, and affordances—intersect with our silent presence, inviting us to observe/sense/hear how counterpoints of movement and stillness coexist in the public space. As a musician fascinated by gesture and silence, Guy Livingston encourages embodied engagement with the streets, in an attempt to adopt Pauline Oliveros’ suggestion to walk so silently that the bottoms of your feet become ears.

Possibly new psychogeographies will be revealed. And possibly we will be cold and wet (please wear appropriate attire).

Registration

We will walk in guided groups of maximum 15 participants. There will be (warm) food upon arrival. Please register via this form.
