Maya Fridman
Maya Fridman is a cellist, composer, and researcher based in the Netherlands. Her artistic development has been supported through residencies with Gaudeamus, TivoliVredenburg, and November Music. Her work is influenced by musical traditions from other cultures, ritual practices, and rock and electronic music. She is currently pursuing a PhD in artistic research focused on ritual in concert practice.
In 2023, with the support of the Cello Biënnale, Maya released her album The Power of Indifference, presenting her work as a singer-songwriter across electronics, gothic, and pop-inflected sound worlds. Audiophilia selected the album as one of the most interesting releases of the year.
In 2022, her work organising benefit concerts for Ukraine was documented in the film United We Stand (Musicians in Time of War) by David van Tijn, premiered at the EYE Filmmuseum.
She is the founder of TRIDA Foundation, through which she organises benefit concerts, and of Maya Fridman Foundation, a platform for adventurous, multidisciplinary projects.
