
Irene Ruiperez Canales
Active and activist, Irene Ruipérez is a musician and educator, whose work bridges performance, pedagogy, and interdisciplinary collaboration. A classically trained flutist, she explores extended techniques and innovative applications of the flute in diverse artistic and educational settings. Her approach emphasizes experimentation as a fundamental learning tool, fostering creativity and critical engagement in both artistic practice and education.
With a strong commitment to research-led teaching, she investigates learning processes beyond traditional pedagogical strategies. She values self-assessment as a continuous educational practice and integrates cutting-edge methodologies into her teaching. Currently, she teaches at the Koninklijke Conservatorium and the European School in The Hague, where she develops educational projects at the intersection of music, sound art, and creative pedagogy. Her expertise spans individual and group instruction, educational project development, and artistic coordination. She has led interdisciplinary initiatives combining sound art, education, and urban space intervention. Her studies in neuropsychology applied to education further enrich her holistic approach to teaching and artistic practice.
As a performer, she has been a soloist with the Andalucía Youth Orchestra, the Orchestra of the University of Granada, and the Academic Orchestra of Granada, among others. She actively participates in various ensembles, including Quatriola Ensemble and Catchpenny Ensemble, engaging with classical, contemporary, experimental, folk, and free improvisation genres. Her chamber music experience includes award-winning collaborations, such as the Esperanto Trio, which earned first prize in the UCLM chamber music competition.
