He’s interested in process-based sound, digital synthesis and algorithmic composition. How sound and software interact, the influence between algorithms on musical behaviour and the contact points of system building and composition. Bjarni creates compositions that put into foreground behaviours, actions, fuzzy materials or forms. His recent research focus includes the construction of persistent synthetic environments, live coding, digital interrupts, database systems and machine listening for sound synthesis. Bjarni is a faculty member at the Institute of Sonology, Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
