docARTES is an international doctoral programme for performers and composers. It offers a unique environment for critical reflection on musical practice.

docARTES is, next to PhDArts for visual artists and designers, one of the two doctoral programmes of the Academy of Creative & Performing Arts of the Leiden University.
It starts with a 4-year doctoral curriculum which consists of 16 sessions in total. After you have finished your first year of the doctoral curriculum, an interim evaluation is organised. A supervising team will assist you and guard the progress and quality of your research from the very start until your doctoral defense.
The duration of the entire doctoral programme is expected to be four to five years.
