Kaja Majoor

Kaja Majoor (1998) is a Polish-Dutch artist based in The Hague. She graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 2023, specialising in illustration. Alongside her work as an illustrator, Kaja is a professional violinist, having graduated from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague in 2020. She completed the NAIP Master (New Audiences and Innovative Practice) in 2024, where she explored combining her musical and artistic skills.

Kaja's passion for art and music stems from her family background, with her mother as a composer and her father as a type designer. Inspired by her family's artistic influences, she decided to pursue both disciplines.

She has a particular affinity for analogue printmaking techniques like riso print, screen print, and linocut, as well as pattern design. She often draws inspiration from patterns, nature and the world around her, and her work is characterised by its intricate details and organic forms. Kaja also takes inspiration from music. As a performing musician, she experiences music differently from the listener. When she plays music, she sees shapes, colours, lines and patterns. Illustration has given her the opportunity to translate these imaginary visions into artworks. One of her goals for the future is to combine music and art in a multidisciplinary approach.
