Set within an endangered world shaped by social, political, and ecological pressures, Rory Pilgrim’s films focus on people: their voices, relationships, fears and dreams. This afternoon offers an opportunity to engage with his work through screenings and discussion, reflecting on his topics, visions, media and research.

Apart from short fragments from several films, including Turner Prize-nominated project RAFTS, we will screen in full the work for which he was awarded the Prix de Rome in 2019.

The Undercurrent (2019), 52 mins

An intimate portrait of a generation often burdened with the expectation that they will save us all from ourselves, The Undercurrent was made during the summer of 2019 working with 10 youth climate activists from Boise, Idaho. With tenderness and vulnerability, the activists share their struggles, highlighting how mental health, homelessness, grief, and gender inequality intersect with the climate crisis.

We look forward to seeing you there!
