Maarten Cornel

Maarten Cornel teaches Philosophy at the Bachelor Graphic Design programme of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) and creates at the academy wide program of Research & Discourse. Next to the activities on the academy, Cornel have organised multiple Socratic talks on various social topics.

Maarten Cornel (1978, Amstelveen, The Netherlands), studied for one year at the Montaigne Academy, Amsterdam (currently AMFI). Cornel switched to study philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and obtained a masters degree. At the VU, Cornel specialised in aesthetics, ethics and antiquity/archaeology. Cornel tries to combine their lifelong passion for the arts, especially for painting and music, with cognitive investigations into (the mainly continental) philosophical discourses. Next to that, Cornel studied art history as a minor, and researched many sources on (historical) art materials and technologies.
