Erik Viskil

Erik Viskil is a researcher, educator and academic director. His research interests are in film, with an emphasis on the discursive possibilities of the medium, and in artistic research.

Erik is professor of Research and Discourse in Artistic Practice and academic director of the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA) at Leiden University, and Lector of Film at the University of the Arts The Hague. He's also the chair of PARC, and co-director of Leiden University’s ReCNTR.

He has taught film at various art and design schools and founded the department of Image & Language at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He is the initiator of the minor Creative Strategies for a Society in Change, with courses on the essay film, at Leiden University.
