Lawrence McGuire
Lawrence McGuire (1997, The Hague) is a composer based between The Hague and Brussels.
Vocality, in its production as well as perception, is the main topic of his experimental practice. His work can be situated somewhere on the continuum of computer music and sound poetry highlighting the interplay between existing languages and non-languages. As an audio programmer, he recently developed the vocal synthesis program ‘NKOAPP,’ which he now uses in various live settings, with or without his own voice. Aiming to use the synthetic as a suggestive probing tool to investigate psycho-linguistic and acoustic phenomena.
Next to programming and curating experimental music, Lawrence started his MA at the Institute of Sonology earlier this year. His work is currently mostly focused in collaborative efforts, where he recently collaborated and is still collaborating with Dylan Kerr, Amos Peled, Amarante Nat, Cis De Gendt amongst others. He's also been co-curating the internet label In Unison since 2020.
