Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat (2024), 150 minutes
Told through a breathtaking, ideas-packed journey that weaves together American jazz and the geopolitical machinations of the 1950s and 60s, the film examines the 1961 assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion between the filmmaker and invited guests who are experts in the topics raised in the film: Congo expert Alphonse Muambi, Professor of Politics and Governance in Africa Mayke Kaag, and Mike Bindraban, a lawyer with professional specialisms in both jazz and human rights.
